Jossey Buthane in dock after street clash

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Provincial Secretary Jossey Buthane appeared in the Polokwane District Court on Tuesday following a clash between the EFF and the Radical Economic Transformation Forum (RETF) in the city in May this year.
He is facing charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and robbery with aggravating circumstances and was granted bail of R1 000 and warned to appear before court again on 31 August. This follows an incident in Polokwane on 14 May which led to the injury of a public representative. Disruption of a RETF meeting allegedly led to persons identified as EFF supporters in red T-shirts assaulting members of the RETF. Video clips were seen where RETF members were kicked and beaten by attackers armed with clubs and pick axe handles. Buthane is visible in more than one of the videos relating to the incident.
