“I hope you find him alive.”
Such were the sentiments of Limpopo High Court Judge Joseph Raulinga who had to postpone the trial of double murder accused Rameez Patel earlier this morning (Monday) following the testimony of investigating officer Richard Boshomane that Patel’s brother, Razeen could not have been located at his residential address in Nirvana
Razeen and another witness were supposed to testify against Patel in court this morning.
Boshomane testified that he visited the house in Niirvana this morning and found Razeen’s Nissan NP200 bakkie with what seems to be blood stains on the door and on the soil next to the vehicle. All doors were locked and Boshomane further testified that he could see what seemed to be Razeen’s cell phone and house keys locked inside the bakkie. He testified that none of the neighbours were also able to provide any information on his whereabouts.
Both councils agreed to a postponement until Monday in order for Boshomane to locate both witnesses. Patel’s defence attorney, Tumi Mokwena was also not able to attend court after alleged miscommunication about the next court date. It was noted in court that Mokwena, who earlier withdrew from the case, will now continue to represent Patel.
Patel is standing trial in the alleged murder of his wife Fatima in April 2015 and is facing another charge of murder after the killing of his mother Mahjebeen in September last year.
