Police have opened an inquest docket following the death of a 3-year-old boy who allegedly fell into a pit toilet near Moletji Ditenteng, Seshego (Wednesday).
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe informed that the boy, Monono Omari had reportedly gone to his aunt’s place, across the street, where he usually plays.
The aunt reportedly helped the toddler to remove his clothes in order for him to use the pit toilet before continuing with her chores inside the house. According to Ngoepe the aunt then later realised that she hadn’t seen the child for a while and went to investigate.
When she could not find him she called the Police who, upon arrival at her premises started a search and found Monono in the toilet. He had already died.
Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba cautioned parents and guardians to be vigilant at all times to avoid similar type of incidents, especially during the school holiday.
