Baroka Football Club has parted ways with South African soccer legend, Doctor Khumalo who was the club’s technical director.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder left the club last Thursday after joining them in August last year from Kaizer Chiefs Football Club.
Baroka’s Chief Executive Officer, Morgan Mammilla said the club could no longer afford Khumalo. “He is not a cheap man and we have a new coach who is not cheap either. We did not want to find ourselves in a situation where we are unable to honour the contracts of the players,” Mammilla said.
He described Khumalo as a consummate professional who brought lots of changes to the club. “We learnt a lot from him. He brought changes in the technical team and also instilled professionalism in the players. We parted ways amicably and we are happy to have had someone like him assisting and advising the club.”
He added they had secured the services of former South African youth international and former Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, midfielder Emmanuel Letlotlo. Letlotlo is a product of the Multi Choice Diski Challenge and he signed a three-year contract with Chiefs in 2016 after becoming the top scorer in the challenge. “He started training with the team last week and we are happy to have him here,” Mammilla concluded.
