Flora Park Comprehensive High School Grade 12 learners are currently attending a matric winter camp at New Horizon School that commenced on 25 June and is expected to conclude tomorrow (Friday) and aims to assist learners in improving not only their own marks but also contribute to the overall results of the Class of 2018.
The school principal, Joseph Masekela emphasised that out of 159 Grade 12 learners’ 142 are attending the camp. He said they want to be among the top performing schools in the province and explained that they outsourced educators from various schools to teach all the subjects during the camp.
Masekela stated that they are not proud of last year’s 60,8% pass rate, adding that he was convinced that learners would do better this year.
“Our learners are committed and we believe they will do exceptionally well during the senior certificate examinations. We are planning weekend camps to assist learners improve their work,” he explained.
Masekela concluded by saying that all the learners are keen to learn as much as they can and they are all focused. The school charged learners a small amount to cover the cost of accommodation and food.
