The Transnet Phelophepa Health Care Train, which prides itself on bringing affordable and quality primary health care to rural and poor urban towns around the country, is expected to visit the Transnet Polokwane Station from 23 July until 3 August.
Though the train initially only targeted the vulnerable groups in the communities, everyone is now welcome to visit the train to receive basic health care.
According to a media statement from the Transnet Foundation the train will provide cancer and diabetes educare, an eye clinic, counselling, psychology and a dental clinic. “Our counselling services will be available to individuals and we will also offer free workshops to help cope with stress, abuse, conflict, death, parenting, discipline, empowerment and working through emotions.
“We are urging all community members to arrive early and bring along their clinic card, including immunisation cards for children. Treatment is scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
“The train provides a range of services in communities where they currently do not exist and enhances existing health services provided by the government in other areas,” the statement concluded.
