The cries for help of man pleading for help while stuck in a crashed vehicle could be heard metres away from the scene of a head-on collision between a sedan and Great North Transport (GNT) bus early this morning (Monday) en route to Ga-Matamanyane village, Moletjie.
The accident apparently occurred around 06:00 with the driver of the sedan most affected. When Polokwane Observer arrived on the scene about 30 minutes after the occurrence, the medical team and the Police were not yet on the scene to assist the victim.
The bus driver bus told Polokwane Observer that he was on underway to fetch commuters when the other driver apparently lost control of his vehicle. He said he had tried to steer the bus away from the oncoming vehicle but with no luck. Neither vehicle carried passengers. Polokwane Muncipality’s Fire and Rescue team had to use hydraulic rescue tools to free the trapped person.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Monatse Mamabolo and GNT Marketing and Business Development Manager Patrick Monkoe confirmed the accident and indicated that the information they had at the time was sketchy and that they were awaiting the result of Police investigations.
