The Grade R learners of Pietersburg English Medium Primary School (Pemps) have, with the support of their parents, managed to put together 40 toiletry care packs for their Touching Lives initiative.
They plan to donate the care packs to young patients of the Cansa TLC Pediatric Oncology Ward of the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital in July. Each pack contains a face cloth, a tube of toothpaste, toothbrush and soap.
Pemps Grade R Principal, Karin Adlem said the gesture is their way of reaching out to children from impoverished backgrounds. “Some of them don’t have toiletries at all and we took it upon ourselves as the school to help them in that regard. We want to thank the parents and guardians of our children for helping us,” Adlem said.
