Learners of Laerskool Piet Hugo Primary listened attentively and interacted enthusiastically last Thursday when three representatives of Stop Trafficking of People (Stop) Limpopo taught them more about the reality and dangers of human trafficking especially that of children.
According to Hiadee von Well, speaking on behalf of Stop Limpopo, educating children in a fun way about human trafficking by means of roleplaying or drama gets the message across without the children feeling fearful or anxious.
Small hand knitted dolls were also handed out to the grade R learners with the message that just as they are made lovingly by God, so the dolls are made lovingly by hand, and as each person is unique so is each doll. “God holds you safely in the palm of His hand just as you can hold your doll in yours,” Von Well explained.
The hand knitted dolls that were handed out were lovingly knitted by members of the Coral Knitting Club attached to Coral Retirement Village in Polokwane.
Anyone interested in assisting in any way can contact Von Well on 072 609 1996.
