Affiliates of the Public Servants Association of South Africa (PSA) as well as National Health Education and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) in Limpopo gathered outside the Office of the Premier and Provincial Treasury earlier today (Friday) to picket against alleged poor wages.
Members are demanding wage increases of 12% for level one employees, 11% for level 8 to 10 employees and 10% for employees on level 11 to 12, it was learnt.
The PSA Provincial Liaison Officer Lawrence Muvhango indicated that government has been served with a 30 day notice to embark on industrial action following the collapse of the wage negotiations which started in October 2017. “We have tabled our demands as far back as October 2017 with the aim that we would have seen salary increases being implemented by 1 April. The wage dispute was declared at the Bargaining Council and we plan to strike if our demands for a 10% wage increase are not met,” Muvhango said.
