Intelligence-led operations conducted by Police across the province since last week once again yielded positive results with the arrest of 501 suspects on various charges.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said the operations were composed of various units on station, cluster and provincial level until Monday morning.
Ngoepe indicated that the suspects were arrested on charges varying from assault, possession of dagga, house breaking, theft, drunken driving, armed robbery, murder, rape and possession of an illegal firearm.
He highlighted some of the successes saying that Police arrested seven suspects aged between 31 and 40 for possession of illegal firearms and suspected stolen property as well as possession of counterfeit cigarettes in Groblersdal. Two cell phones, a television set, a firearm, 2 290 containers of cigarettes and a stolen vehicle were recovered.
Police also arrested two suspects in Maake and Burgersfort respectively for being in possession of nyaope and dagga.

A stolen tractor is among several stolen vehicles recovered during the operation.

In areas such as Mankweng, Thohoyandou, Louis Trichardt, Modimolle, Westenburg, Tzaneen, Lephalale and Seshego a total of 54 suspects aged between 21 and 46 years old were arrested and suspected stolen property such as cell phones, computers, five firearms and ammunition, a tractor, cash, laptops and four vehicle were recovered.
Ngoepe said the suspects will appear in various courts across the province. He warned that the Police will not rest until all criminals are brought to book during similar operations which are conducted on a regular basis.
