A memorial service will be held for well-known educator and Rotary Ann Sandy Hudson (71) who passed away in Polokwane on Friday after losing her battle against cancer.
The service will be held at St Paul’s United Church in Haenertsburg at 10:00.
Hudson had a long and successful career in education and taught for many years at Capricorn High School (CHS). She and her husband John, who passed away at the beginning of last year also from cancer, were members of the CHS board.
The couple was key in the building of Mitchell House. Hudson came out of retirement to become a director at Mitchell House College shortly after Andrew Cook was appointed headmaster in 2010.
She and her husband were also dedicated Rotarians. President of Rotary Pietersburg 100, Peter Mockford said she will be missed very much. “Even while she was recuperating from her most recent cancer treatment, she would still come and assist with the organising of functions. It was a huge blow to hear of her death. At Christmas time we spoke and she was very positive that she would beat the cancer. As a Rotary Ann, she was an integral part of Rotary,” Mockford said.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Hudson’s eldest daughter Melanie said her mom will be sorely missed by everyone who loved her. She leaves behind her four children Melanie, Ursula, Nikki and Gavin and their families along with countless friends and other family.
