Polokwane City FC in relegation battle

Polokwane City Football Club ‘s efforts of moving out of the Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) relegation zone were futile after it dropped crucial points against fellow strugglers Ajax Cape Town at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
City came into the match in need of maximum points but they were held to a 1-1 by Ajax in their tenth draw of the season from 20 matches and they will need to collect more points in the last remaining 10 matches in order to keep their PSL status.
Head coach Bernard Molekwa said they were worried about their position in the league and stressed that they would have to double their efforts in order to escape relegation. “We are in the 13th position of the league. We are not comfortable. We are playing well but luck is not on our side. We have a very good team but we are not getting the desired results. We just have to continue working hard and double our efforts until we win,” Molekwa said.
Their next match will be against the tenth placed Bloemfontein Celtic Football Club at Dr Molemela Stadium in Free State on 18 February.
City has never beaten Celtic this season in all PSL matches and Cup competitions.
“It is going to be tough. They are a side good. They beat us twice this season in the league and the Telkom Knockout tournament. They have the upper hand but we are ready, every member of the team knows the position we are currently in and it is not a good one at all. We need points and we must get them from Celtic.”
He also mentioned that the medical team was working hard to get their star striker and the league’s top goal scorer, Rodney Ramagalela is ready for the clash against Celtic.
According to Molekwa, Ramagalela suffered a minor injury in training while preparing for the Ajax match. “He was not in the starting 11 for the Ajax match, he is still nursing an injury and we are hoping that he will be fit for the Celtic match.”
