The Rotary Club of Pietersburg 100’s annual progressive dinner that took place on Saturday evening, is an event that will be remembered for long.
Rotarians and guests gathered at the accommodation establishment of Klaus and Brigitte Rabiega in Marshall Street for cocktails, whereafter they boarded a luxury coach to the home of Andy Maritz in Eduan Park, where a chicken and litchi starter with masala was served. Excitement ran high as the bus, with popular music at high volume, set the ambience for great fun and companionship. At Broadlands Estate, Charles and Jacolien van der Walt served more en route refreshments that included spiced fruit cocktails, nuts and biltong and some guests even challenged the heated swimming pool before all walked to the house of Pieter and Caren Meintjes where chicken burgers were served. After lots of fun, the Rotarians returned to the Rabiegas where desert that included Pavlova, chocolate mousse and apfelstrudel, were served.
President of the Rotary Club of Pietersburg 100, Peter Mockford, said that the outing was indeed a memorable event that will not easily be surpassed. “Although it is one of the most popular events on our annual calendar, we also plan a number of other events like the regular ladies’ nights, the annual 4X4 get-together with other Rotary clubs and the potjiekos competition where the families of the Rotarians will also be included,” he said.
