Beautifully decorated cupcakes, a photo booth and a fun cake decorating station contributed to a successful cupcake sale at Mall of the North on Saturday.
The event, organised by volunteer Louise Jansen, herself a cancer survivor, in collaboration with Panarottis Mall of the North drew a lot of attention with R1 500 cupcakes, donated by volunteers, sold at R10 each, photo booth sessions for R40 each, of which R20 was donated to Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer, and even a large cake up for grabs for the person who could guess the number of silver balls on the cake. Participants paid R5 per guess.

The joy that a cupcake can bring is apparent on Loona-Mae Jansen’s face.

Hard Hats Entertainment also donated 50% of all tickets sold for the X-Rider to the cause.
Panarottis set up a cupcake decorating station for children where a R20 donation paid for the opportunity to give a child’s imagination wings and included a free kids’ meal voucher.
Many shoppers gave donations far exceeding the number of cupcakes that they actually bought. According to Jansen the day was a major success and all the cupcakes were sold.
