The Limpopo High Court sentenced a teacher from Seshego to life imprisonment for the rape of his biological daughter on Tuesday.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said the 52-year-old man sexually abused his daughter in 2007 and 2008 when she was only 10 years old. He molested her while the mother was not at home and in 2012 started to rape her on a regular basis, according to Ngoepe. He allegedly told her that he was preparing her for the future.
In 2013 the girl was impregnated by her father and the pregnancy was terminated. He continued raping her in 2014 until she decided to report the matter which resulted in his arrest, Ngoepe said.
Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba applauded detectives attached to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for stern investigations to bring the man to book. “We hope the sentence will serve as a deterrent to all the rapists out there for them to stop targeting the most vulnerable members of our society. The long arm of the law will deal with them mercilessly and without compromise,” Ledwaba was quoted to have said.
