BREAKING NEWS – Suspect escapes while Police buy food

Police in Westenburg are still searching for Afra Rikhotso who escaped from custody while being transported to Northam on Tuesday.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that Rikhotso was collected from Correctional Services in Thohoyandou by Northam Police to appear in the local magistrate’s court on additional offences committed in the area. Police officers who transported the suspect reportedly stopped at a fuel station along the N1 South outside Polokwane, apparently to buy food at the restaurant, according to Ngoepe. It is alleged that the suspect produced a firearm during the process and pointed it at the officers before fleeing, Ngoepe cited.
He added that the exact circumstances around the escape and to how the suspect got hold of a firearm are still being investigated.
