The draw for the upcoming Solly Malatsi Legacy Foundation’s football tournament to be held at Madiga Junior Chiefs Sports Grounds over the next two weekends was conducted on Sunday.
According to tournament organiser Solly Malatsi the draw produced some exciting fixtures which would result in great matches on Saturday and Sunday as well as next weekend.
“The draw has spectacular encounters which every local football fan will enjoy watching. All the fixtures are humdingers. I am personally looking forward to the match between Peace Lovers and Manchester United and Mamaila Happy Stars and Tau Tau.
“Both Happy Stars and Manchester United are not known by many of the teams in the tournament but they are formidable forces in their areas and their participation in the tournament will definitely elevate the level of competition which is great for the development of local amateur football.”
Mahlallane Peace Lovers, who are the defending champions of the tournament having won a Top 8 edition of the tournament in January have been handed a tough fixture against their nemesis, Manchester United from Ga-Chuene.
Following the draw Paul Makgaba, representing Mahlallane Peace Lovers, is quoted to have said “This is a grudge match against Manchester United. We will revenge the loss we suffered against them two years ago when they knocked us out in the semifinal of a lucrative tournament.”
Humbulani Mothemola, representing Mamaila Happy Stars was referred to as being bullish about his team’s prospects at the tournament. “We would come here (Ga-Dikgale ), which is a long trip, for our team to add numbers. We have come here to leave as champions. No team here will stop Happy Stars.”
