A baby that was transferred from a provincial hospital to Mediclinic Limpopo in the city yesterday (Wednesday) after the local community and well-doers from as far as Tzaneen contributed more than R110 000 towards her admission to the hospital, has been seen by a paediatrician and is recovering well.
The baby’s mother, Christel Swanepoel told Polokwane Observer that her baby Mia le Grange was born on 8 May and had to be accommodated at a provincial hospital because she did not have the necessary funds to pay for her baby’s admission to a private hospital.
Swanepoel’s friend Marise Rademan registered Mia with the Child Medi Organisation and used all the resources social media could provide to source financial assistance from the public. “I was overwhelmed by the response of the community to assist us to raise the money to have Mia transferred to a private hospital. She sustained an injury to her right leg during the birth and it may need an operation. We trust that further assistance to cover the expenses will be sourced from the community,” Swanepoel said.
Contributions towards Mia’s further medical expenses may be made via Child Medi Organisation. Their FNB cheque account number is 626 325 810 56 with branch code 250 655. Reference: Mia.
