A delegation from Polokwane Tourism Association (PTA) recently attended the World Travel Market Exhibition in Cape Town and took advantage of the opportunity to network with international and national leaders in the tourism industry.
Gerhard Franken, leader of the delegation and Chairperson of PTA said Polokwane Municipality, the main sponsor of PTA, participated in the expo to market municipal attractions and promote the municipal area as a preferred tourism attraction. The delegation also used the expo as a platform to engage with other organisations within the tourism sector and consisted of Franken, Tourism and Investment Promotion Assistant Manager of the municipality Moipone Segooa, Tourism Information Officer Rudzani Mudau and intern Mmathabo Mokgobi.
Franken said that nearly 5 000 travel industry professionals attended the three day expo that focused on providing delegates with quality contacts, content and opportunities to expand their vision of the international industry. “Our stand was limited to 18 m2 and we distributed 150 visitor’s guides, leaflets on the Polokwane Game Reserve, museums and other attractions as well as coffee mugs, mouse pads, key holders and other promotional items. Only 131 visitors registered on out visitor’s book, but many more visited the stall,” Franken said.
Franken is very excited about new contacts made during the expo and looks forward to future engagements and investment in the city’s tourism attractions by national and international operators in the tourism industry.
