Seasoned Baroka Football Club midfielder, Khunadi Nkoana believes their first victory of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) against Platinum Stars on Saturday has set the tone for their future performance in the elite league.
The new PSL rookies had gone three matches without a feat and things weren’t going well for them until their 1-0 victory over the long time PSL contenders.
Nkoana said they were happy to have broken the duck after losing to Highlands Park and Bidvest Wits in recent matches. “We needed the victory so much and we are happy that we were able to achieve that goal. The victory will also give us momentum and spurs us on the league. We were already hovering around the relegation zone and we were not happy with the situation,” Nkoana said.
He also mentioned they shifted their focus to Cape Town City Football who they meet at Cape Town Stadium on 15 October. “They are a good team and quality players but Cape Town teams have never given us problems, even when we were playing in the National First Division. We beat so many teams from Cape Town and I don’t think we can lose this match. We are playing very well and we are certain that we will win the match,” Nkoana said.
Baroka will be without their exciting midfielder Tshepo Matete who is still nursing an ankle injury he sustained in a friendly match against Magesi Football Club in August.
