UPDATE 14 – It’s about time to pop the champagne as Limpopo’s local government election results stand at 98,3% completion.
Speaking to Polokwane Observer at the Results Operations Centre (ROC) at Peter Mokaba Stadium about half an hour ago, Independent Electoral Commission Provincial Electoral Officer (IEC PEO) Nkaro Mateta said they were left with the results of 124 stations within eight municipalities still to be captured or audited. Delays were mainly attributed to auditing as well as confusion caused by the number of pages to the ballot slip. Main delays have been registered in Makhuduthamaga Municipality with the remainder at stations across the province, she indicated.
They had planned to complete the process by yesterday, she said in adding that the delays were quite regrettable. Mateta expected the Limpopo process to be concluded by 17:00 today.
At the time the African National Congress (ANC) was at 68,81% with 483 wards, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) at 16,61% with 3 wards and the Democratic Alliance (DA) at 8,06% with 24 wards.
