New Premier Soccer League (PSL) team, Baroka Football Club will depart to Zimbabwe on 8 August for a two weeks camp as part of the pre-season training for the league which starts on 23 August.
According to Morgan Mamilla, Chief Executive Officer of the club, they will take all the players including the new recruits to the camp.
“The team will leave the country after the Fame Charity Cup which takes place on 6 August and play friendly matches with some of the teams there. We have chosen the country because there are top teams there, the league is competitive and we also wanted a change of scenery for the team. We have played in Gauteng, Durban and Cape Town and we wanted something different,” Mammila said.

He said the team will play some of their PSL home matches at Giyani Stadium in the new season.
“We will be taking four matches to Giyani Stadium and 11 matches will be played at Peter Mokaba Stadium. The reason is that the people of Giyani have proven that they are soccer loving people and there is no team in Giyani that is the PSL or National First Division and it looks like there won’t be a team in the next five or so. Baroka is the provincial team and we want to reach out to everyone from the province,” Mammilla said.
The Giyani Stadium boasts a capacity of approximately 20 000 while Peter Mokaba Stadium can take 46 000 spectators.
