A contingent of former Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) fighters in Limpopo is being deployed to Vuwani to mainly assist with the reconstruction of schools and guarding learners.
Acting Provincial Secretary of Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA), Lulamile Jack, informed Polokwane Observer that some 50 members were expected to be deployed in Vuwani from tomorrow (Friday) onwards. The decision followed a request from MKMVA at national level for MKMVA in Limpopo to engage with the ruling party in the province, it was learnt. Jack said more members would be sent to Vuwani once logistics were organised. According to him they would be assisting with the reconstruction of schools that has suffered a delay due to renewed unrest, as well as lend a hand on a humanitarian basis and engage with the community and stakeholders to establish where help was needed.
With MKMVA Provincial Chairperson John Ngobeni they would lead the group in working tirelessly to assist restoring peace and unity which was a priority, he stressed and added that they had fought for the country for people to be able to live harmoniously.
