Not only were oval racing enthusiasts treated to the usual adrenaline pumping action, but also saw international oval speedster Bill Rose taking around the Polokwane Oval track on Saturday.
Rose, an American Sprint driver had an unlucky race when he crashed his car in the second heat causing him to view the rest of the event from the pits. “It happens. Accidents are unfortunately part of the game, but the friendly Polokwane Oval racers make up for everything,” Rose said.
Rose had been in South Africa for about two weeks and participated in the local race before he returned to America on Monday. “The oval season in America starts this weekend and I have some preparations to do especially now after the accident. But it has been nothing less than a pleasure to meet and mingle with Polokwane residents,” Rose said, adding that oval racing in South Africa has good synergy in general and that he plans on visiting again by the end of October.
The other classes once again saw competitive racing with JC Oosthuizen, Megan-Lee Kotze and Jean-Marie Swartz claiming the first three positions in the Ninja Midget class.

In the Stockrods class Hennie de Koker was hard to beat with Johan Thiart and Nico Grebe having to settle for second and third position respectively.
