Mall of the North Marathon – Partake and become part of the big event

The second Mall of the North Marathon takes place on Saturday, 9 April and is expected to host a field of 3 000 athletes and social participants on the day.
The event caters for the whole family. Serious runners can show their steel in the 42,2 km marathon which also serves as a Comrades qualifier, a half marathon and a 10 km race while the whole family and friends can participate in a 5 km fun run.
Hosted by Mall of the North in partnership with Pietersburg Road Runners, Polokwane Observer, Standard Bank, Powerade, Bidvest McCarthy Pre-owned and Talisman Hire as main sponsors, the Mall of the North Marathon is set to become an established fixture on the Limpopo running calendar.
Entry forms are available at the Pietersburg Road Runners kiosk at the Game court and Total Sports in Mall of the North, Sportsmans Warehouse at Thornhill, Fourways and Centurion.
The marathon starts at 06:00, the half marathon at 06:15, the 10 km at 06:30 and the 5 km fun run at 07:00.
Participants can also collect their race numbers with proof of payment at the kiosk in the mall until 8 April or on race day between 04:30 en 06:00 at the starting point.
The first three athletes in every category will receive gold medals. Silver medals will be awarded to the next 50 athletes and bronze medals will be issued to those who finish in each category.
There will be three separate award ceremonies: 08:00 for the 10 km, 09:00 for the 21,1 km and 11:00 for the marathon.
Race organiser and chairperson of Pietersburg Road Runners, Colinda Potgieter, reminds non-members of athletics clubs who want to participate in the races to obtain a temporary licence for R30 in addition to their entry fee.
All the races will start and end at Mall of the North and ample parking is available at the top level of the Spur entrance.
