Trial exams going smoothly

Learners throughout the province on Monday started trial exams.
“All is going smoothly,” Naledzani Rasila, Communications Manager at the Department of Education told Polokwane Observer yesterday (Wednesday).
“It is just in the Zebediela area where we are experiencing problems. Protest actions by the community is disrupting learning and teaching. Only Grade 12 learners are allowed to write examinations, whereas all learners should be writing now,” he said.
He explained that in the Zebediela area roads are blocked and learners in lower grades prevented from attending schools. He appealed to communities not to disrupt and disturb the education processes at schools.
“It is their right to protest if they want to, but it is not their right to disturb learning and teaching or prevent learners form writing examinations,” Rasila said.
He informed that preparations for the National Senior Examinations (NSC), starting officially on 26 October, are on track. Learners taking Computer Appliance Technology and Information Technology will start writing on 19 October. The last NSC exam papers will be written on 27 October.
