Setsotso’s healthy choices, happy life

Setsotso Litau, a 21-year-old blogger from Bendor, is a first-year information technology student who one day decided to change her lifestyle and improve her health.

POLOKWANE – She developed a love for making smoothies which is the foundation of her blog called Setsotso.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic, we constantly need to strengthen our immune system to help us fight the disease and stay healthy,” she reminded. Setsotso shared that she was not always this passionate and battled depression for 14 years. She survived sexual abuse, had to drop out of school and had an abusive relationship in her teenage years. “I left the abusive relationship one rainy night with nowhere to go. I just knew that if I did not leave, I would die,” she said.

Her sister fostered in her in the hope of giving her a better life. Although Setsotso bears the scars of her previous life, she has made remarkable strides in her journey of healing. The inspiring person today bears no resemblance to the person who went through all those hardships and she attributes that to God. “I pray about everything, even in my darkest moments, prayer gives me hope. The God I serve has a bigger plan for me. I have also learnt that you can heal yourself with anything around you hence the birth of my blog, Setsotso,” Setsotso explained.

She told Polokwane Observer that there is always plenty of fruit and vegetables at her house because her foster father is a farmer. “The fruit would always spoil because there are only four of us at home. One day I asked him to get me a blender so I could make smoothies. I read on Instagram that fresh produce have nutrients that’s good for you, but I did not understand it fully until I gave it a try for myself. I would drink a smoothie first thing every morning and it cleaned my gut and it cleared my skin. It worked and my attitude towards it changed completely. The website started as a way for me to keep myself and other people who are on the same journey motivated,” she concluded.
