Help the Lufuno Charity Foundation share love

Polokwane Observer spoke to the founder and chairwoman of the foundation, Ledile Chuene, who expressed that they would like to assist child-headed households to meet their basic need for food.

POLOKWANE – The Lufuno Charity Foundation has called on the public to assist them with donations of non-perishable food items.

‘Lufuno’ means ‘love’ in Tshivenda and she founded the foundation in 2012 with the intention to spread love.

Polokwane Observer spoke to the founder and chairwoman of the foundation, Ledile Chuene, who expressed that they would like to assist child-headed households to meet their basic need for food.

“We request assistance in the form of non-perishable food items such as tin food, maize meal and eggs, to donate to child-headed households. There is devastating poverty in child-headed households as there’s no adult provider and the Covid-19 pandemic has made matters worse,” she explained.

They have given themselves until July 31 to identify child-headed households that they will hand the donated goods over to.

“Thus far, we can make donations to six families, however, our aim is to provide for 15 families,” she said.

Chuene added that the selection criteria for these households is that they be child-headed households who struggle immensely.

She appealed to potential donors to assist by buying the non-perishable items, and added that she can collect from anywhere in Polokwane.

Alternatively, contribute any amount of money to the foundation’s Capitec bank account, with the account number; 1522110486. The reference must be ‘Lufuno Charity Foundation’.

“Any form of contribution will be welcomed. It will go a long way in assisting these families that we hope to help,” she said.
