4 002 new Covid-19 cases in Limpopo in the last 48 hours

LIMPOPO – The number of new Covid-19 cases is drastically increasing in the province.

According to the health department’s statistics, 4 002 new cases were recorded in the last 48 hours. The department’s statistics indicate that 1 865 new cases were recorded on July 8, while 2 137 new cases were reported in the last 24-hour reporting cycle.

Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba previously confirmed that the rapid spike in Covid-19 cases in the province since Tuesday, June 30 could be ascribed to the new Delta variant.

To date, Limpopo has recorded 87 278 Covid-19 cases of which 75 020 people have recovered. Thus far, the province has recorded 2 827 Coronavirus-related deaths.

According to the latest statistics by the department, there are currently 9 431 active cases in Limpopo.

The Waterberg district recorded the most new cases in the last 24-hour reporting period (607), followed by the Capricorn district (477) and the Vhembe district (380).

Polokwane had the most new cases in the last reporting cycle, as the municipality recorded 379 new cases. Lephalale had 225 new cases, while 190 new cases were recorded in Makhado.
