Families and friends build puzzles at Mitchell House

Family and friends participated in a tricky and fun team-building puzzle competition at Mitchell House last Saturday.

POLOKWANE – This was the school’s first ever Puzzle Building Day at the Nutrition Centre, which was organised by Mitchell House Parents Association (MHPA). The participants consisted of all age groups who were dressed in matching or coordinating outfits. A total of 24 teams had signed up for the competition. One of the organisers and programme director, Nare Mogotsi explained the rules of the competition to the learners and parents so that everyone was on the same page before they started.

The aim of the event was to help children and adults explore the great skills that come with puzzle-building. “Puzzles are brain food, and besides being fun, these kind of puzzle activities are filled with educational content. They help exercise an individual’s critical thinking skills, while developing and reinforcing math and language arts skills,” Nare said. The event was an opportunity for learners as well as their families to come together and spend their Saturday morning building puzzles.

Winners:

• 300-piece puzzle: Team Unstoppables: Banele, Lebogang, Keo and MJ Malele.

• 500-piece puzzle: Team Gutsche: Emma, Joshua, Ann and Russel Gutshe.

• Best dressed team: the Ants: Richard, Riley, Liam and Charlene Geswind.
