Education department is ready for the gr. 12 finals

The national senior certificate examinations officially started today (Monday). The department of education announced last week that officials were ready and well prepared for this challenge.

POLOKWANE – The national senior certificate examinations officially started yesterday (Monday).

The department of education announced last week that officials were ready and well prepared for this challenge.

Gr. 12 learners started these examinations with a computer applications technology practical examination yesterday (Monday) and today (Tuesday), they will complete an information technology practical examination.

These are the only two examinations scheduled for this week and the learners will continue examinations next week.

Department spokesperson, Paena Galane, confirmed there were 73 542 full-time candidates and 19 673 part-time candidates who registered for the national senior certificate examinations.

The department also identified 1 706 examination centres, of which 1 417 would be used for full-time candidates and 291 were allocated for part time candidates. The department has selected 4 708 markers for this year’s examinations.

“We can, with assurance, say we are ready. We have satisfied the national assessment done by the national department of education and quality assurer,” Galane said.
