Limpopo police bust five wanted criminals in Sekhukhune

The police says these men are wanted in connection with several serious and violent crimes, including ATM bombings which were committed in the province in recent months. 

LIMPOPO – Police made a major breakthrough in the fight against business robberies in the province with the arrest of five men in Jane Furse. These men are believed to be part of a gang, who have in recent months targeted the business sector in the Sekhukhune district, says Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The police arrested the men were arrested at their residences during the tactical intelligence-driven joint operation which was conducted by the Provincial Tracking Team, Provincial Investigations Unit, the Saps Limpopo Highway Patrol Team and members of the Jane Furse Police Station, Ngoepe added.

“The men are wanted in connection with 10 serious and violent crimes which include murder, ATM bombings, safe blasting and business robbery, and were arrested at their homes following a tip-off from the community.”

Several items which were reportedly stolen from retail stores and residences in the area, were recovered during the arrest..

Among the items recovered was A plasma TV and bottles of alcohol.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the arrested suspects was out on bail for an ATM bombing case which took place at Mahlakung plaza in the Sekororo area under Maake Policing precinct in October 2020.

“The suspects may still be linked to more other similar cases in the province,” , Ngoepe added. 

The suspects will appear in the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court soon.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba hailed the sterling job done by the team and said the police will continue to pursue criminals until they are all behind bars.

“A manhunt for the remaining suspects is still underway and more arrests are expected as police investigations continue.”
