Local DJ to make higher education possible for all
DJ Cappuccino has created an innovative and accessible education trust for students with humbled backgrounds, looking to further their education.
POLOKWANE – DJ Cappuccino, more commonly known as Fortune Tebogo Maswanganyi told BONUS that the DJ Cappuccino Higher Educational Trust (DCHET) hopes to provide immediate financial relief and long-term empowerment for students. “The key focus of this trust is to provide financial aid for students at institutions of higher learning, locally, across the continent and internationally, on a sustainable basis and in a manner that resonates with the students’ needs. Trustees nominate the beneficiaries with the guidance of the board, and is handled with absolute discretion,” said Maswanganyi.
He started the trust because he noticed the hardships of students who were unable to complete their studies due to financial restraints.
“I am also funding students privately because there is nothing that bothers me more than knowing that there are so many students with potential who won’t complete their studies because of their financial background. We just want to give students the opportunity and advantage of acquiring higher education,” he said.
To start with, the board will identify students, especially those in their final year, and request their academic records at the relevant institutions for consideration. “Right now, our funds are marginal, but we are hope to support as many students as possible. This trust is about the students, and they are our sole beneficiaries,” he explained.
He further said DCHET’s mission is to become a global higher education trust, utilising the power of organising and liaising with institutions of higher learning. “Any donations starting from R250 can be gifted to the trust, which is administrated by the board. Donors include private donors; companies, CC’s, NPO’s, NPC’s, PTY Ltd’s and more,” he concluded.
