Farmer accused of murder to appear in Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court tomorrow

The farmer (46) was arrested following the murder of a former worker, who died as a result of his injuries.

LIMPOPO – A 46-year-old farmer, who faces a charge of murder, will appear in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court tomorrow for formal bail application.

The farmer was arrested following the death of 22-year-old Zimbabwean national, Progress ‘Proggy’ Mudanga.

Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo told Review that it is believed Mudanga and two other men visited a farm in the Toitskraal area on Thursday, 1 April.

“The men went to the farm to demand payment. Mudanga’s employer reportedly told him to come back at a later stage. The men then left and while on their way to their compound, they were reportedly approached by five security officials and the farm’s foreman,” he explained.

Mojapelo said the security officials accused Mudanga and the other two men of stealing batteries at their work place.

“The security guards allegedly forced them to go back to their employer (suspect) before they were severely assaulted in a storeroom. The victims, who were in critical condition, were taken to another compound on the farm,” he added.

Mojapelo said Mudanga died instantly and that the others were taken to Groblersdal Hospital for medical treatment.

“One suspect was arrested by Marble Hall police and charged with murder. He appeared in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court previously and was remanded in custody. More arrests are possible,” Mojapelo concluded.
