[INFOGRAPHIC] Majority of Limpopo dams filled to the brim

The latest State of Dams report issued by the Department of Water and Sanitation indicates that the provincial water storage increased 0.1% this past week. See the dam levels as recorded on 22 March, here: 

LIMPOPO – As of 22 March Limpopo’s provincial water storage is at a stable state and stands at 87.6% for last week’s 87.5%. Most of the dams are still filled to the brim, a remarkable improvement from last year when the provincial water storage was at a low of 70% during the same period.

In the Mopani district, Ebenezer Dam in Groot Letaba, which supplies the majority of communities around Polokwane, is over 90% full. This past week the water level rose from 88% to 91.6.0%. Last year this time the level stood at 23.3%.

Tzaneen Dam which supplies water to farmers for irrigation in the area has seen a slight decrease from last week’s 101.1% to 101% this week, while Middle Letaba Dam is at a critically low level of 12.3%.

Flag Boshielo in the Sekhukhune district,  also experienced a decline from last week’s 100.9% to this week’s 100.2%.

In the Waterberg district, Doorndraai Dam in Sterk River which is also at its critically low levels has seen an improvement recording 40.9% this week compared to last week’s 39.8%, an improvement compared to when it reached 13.4% last year at this time.
