Toyota’s Knights: Men in shining armour

Limpopo Toyota's Knights have reached out and made a difference once again.

POLOKWANE – Limpopo Toyota’s Knights have reached out and made a difference once again.

The Knights are employees within the Toyota group in South Africa, who do charity work in their communities. They are recognised annually by Toyota South Africa for the positive difference they make in people’s lives.

With Toyota Knight, Ryno Jardim, who is a senior sales executive at Limpopo Toyota, aspirant Toyota Knights, Hein Strydom, Lexus Polokwane sales executive, and Robert Augustyn, Limpopo Toyota senior sales executive, organised the first hand-over of fresh produce and mealie meal donations to Martha Hofmeyer Old Age Home on Friday.

Jardim, who is at the helm of this project, said this hand-over would not be the last.

He said the old age home was one of the several 2014/15 community projects they worked on.

On November 27, Limpopo Toyota will present their golf event at the Polokwane Golf Club with the proceeds to also go to the Martha Hofmeyer Old Age Home.

The Toyota Knights, together with their sponsors, outdid themselves in making the event one to remember.

Apart from the food donation, the old age home’s vehicles were also repaired. Limpopo Toyota’s workshop, with Adri Malan at the helm, the parts department under Bruce Smith, new car sales manager Benny Cahn, who is also a Toyota Knight, Lexus sales manager, Marthinus Beukes, and dealer principal Gordon Ferns, were all involved in this part of the project. Northern Auto and Mega Paints assisted with their sponsorship.

MacGyver Auto Paint are sponsoring the repairs on the other three vehicles that need attention.

All four vehicles will be serviced by Limpopo Toyota when needed.

While visiting the old age home, Jardim noticed that their chairs were old and dilapidated. “Limpopo Toyota will sponsor 18 new chairs,” he said.

Jardim said without their sponsors, the project would not have been possible. He extended his gratitude to everyone involved.

Martha Hofmeyer manager, Annelise Bothma, and financial manager, Susan Blignaut, were ecstatic over everything that was done for the old age home.

“We are tremendously thankful to Limpopo Toyota’s Knights and their sponsors, and our Tazz looks and runs like new again. We have in the region of 210 elderly people here who need to receive meals three times a day. Every little bit helps, but this contribution will certainly go a long way. It is wonderful to see people in our community really do care,” Bothma said.
