Pienaarsrivier police ask for help identifying burned body found near R101

The body of a man was discovered in a ditch alongside the railway crossing over the weekend.

LIMPOPO – The police in Pienaarsrivier has appealed to the public for help identifying the body of man that was found in a ditch near the railway crossing outside the town over the weekend.

According to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Mamphaswa Seabi a herdsman in the area discovered the body at around 14:00 on Sunday, 10 January.

“The police were alerted and on arrival the members found the burnt remains of a human body inside a ditch.”

The body was already in a state of decomposition, he added.

The motive behind the incident is unknown at this stage.

A case of murder is being investigated and the police call on anyone with information about this incident, or who can identify the deceased, to contact WO Skhosana at 082 403 4035. Alternatively they can contact the 24-hour Crime Stop number at 086 001 0111 or nearest police station.
