Covid-19: After-hours activity at municipal parks on lockdown

The Polokwane Municipality has decided to place restrictions on the use of municipal parks, effective immediately.

POLOKWANE – In an effort to contain the spread of Covid-19, the municpality will implement the following measures as from today (Thursday, 24 December). Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala explains:

  • All recreational parks shall open at 09:00 and close at 18:00 from today, 24 December until Sunday, 10 January 2021; and
  • Alcohol consumption is prohibited in all parks and open spaces.

“Residents are advised to ensure keep their celebrations and gatherings in as small in number as possible so that they do not contribute in spreading this deadly scourge. Observe Covid-19 regulations and all safety guidelines as pronounced by government,” Thipa concludes.

Police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo says people may call their nearest police station at 10111 or the toll free number at 086 001 0111 and report any violations of the regulations under the Disaster Management Act, including the curfew.
