R250 000 reward for information on shooting of Mogalakwena councillors

Limpopo police are still offering a reward of R250 000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for the murder of Valtyn Kekana (54) and Ralph Kanyane (32).

LIMPOPO – As part of ongoing investigations into the double murder of Valtyn Kekana (54) and Ralph Kanyane (32), the police is still offering a monetary reward of R250 000 for information that can lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspect responsible, according to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Kekana was an ANC Councillor and the chairperson of Mogalakwena Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) and Kanyane was ward 10’s branch secretary. The deceased were shot point-blank by an unknown assailant on 23 July 2019 in Mokopane.

According to earlier reports the two men were seated inside their parked vehicle when an armed man approached and shot the two at point-blank range. Both men died on the scene and the shooter fled on foot.

It is believed the men wanted to expose alleged tender fraud within the municipality.

The police is appealing to anyone with valuable information that can assist in apprehending the suspect involved to contact Brigadier James Espach at 082 576 0753 or Lieutenant Colonel Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501.

“Those with information can choose to remain anonymous and any information received will be kept confidential,” Ngoepe concluded.
