Neighbour (26) arrested for murder of 17-month-old baby
Reports suggest that the man, their neighbour, tried to assault the baby's mother, and in the process the baby was severely injured.

LIMPOPO – The 26-year-old man appeared in the Giyani Magistrate’s Court, said Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe. The man was granted R6 000 bail and his case was postponed to 14 December for further police investigations.

LIMPOPO – A 26-year-old man will appear in the Giyani Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, 5 November, on a charge of murder.
The man was arrested by police in Giyani yesterday, for the murder of his neighbour’s 17-month-old baby, said Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
The baby girl was reportedly killed at around 18:30 at Thomo village, after the man had a quarrel with his neighbour about her children. “He went to their house to confront them and a fight broke out between the man and the baby’s mother and her eldest daughter,” Ngoepe explained.
The man went back to his house and came back with an object with which, reports suggests, he tried to assault the mother. “The mother was carrying her baby and in the process of hitting the mother, the man hacked the baby who got seriously injured,” he added.
The baby girl was rushed to hospital for medical treatment but succumbed to her injuries. “The man was initially arrested for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, which has since been changed to murder. The deceased has been identified as Vukahle Makwakwa,” Ngoepe confirmed.
The incident has been strongly condemned by Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba. “Members of the community are advised to resolve their differences amicably instead of resorting to violence to avoid these type of incidents from occurring,” he said.
