Woman from Levubu dies after brutal assault, boyfriend arrested
An apparent domestic dispute has led to the death of yet another woman and the arrest of the man believed to be her boyfriend.
LIMPOPO – According to police reports the incident happened in the victim’s home in Mashau Magweni village, Levubu on Sunday, 25 October.
“It is alleged the suspect (boyfriend) had arrived at the house at around 03:00 and had accused her of cheating on him. He subsequently assaulted her using various objects, leaving her with severe injuries throughout her body,” Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe explained.
She was hospitalised and the matter was reported to the police. Initially a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) was opened, however, after the victim succumbed to her injuries the case was changed to murder, Ngoepe said.
“Shortly afterwards the suspect was traced and arrested. He is expected to appear in the Levubu Magistrate’s court soon on a charge of murder.”

The deceased has since been identified as 40-year-old Eunice Mukwevho.
Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba has condemned the continuous acts of gender-based violence in the province. He encouraged those who are in a domestic violence related situation to contact the local authorities. He further warned the perpetrators that they will be dealt with ‘harshly and without compromise.
