Three people confirmed dead in R81 head-on collision
The collision happened near Mooketsi on Saturday afternoon.
LIMPOPO – Three people have been confirmed dead and two critically injured after a head-on collision along the R81 road earlier this afternoon.
The collision between a SUV and a sedan happened near Mooketsi at around 16:00.
Mike Maringa, Media Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport, explained that the incident happened after the sedan bumped a third vehicle, lost control and then collided head-on with the SUV. “Three male occupants from the sedan died. A fourth occupant from the sedan as well as one occupant from the SUV were critically injured.”

The exact cause of the incident will form part of a police investigation, however, speeding and reckless driving has not been ruled out.
Meanwhile, in the Sekhukhune district two people died and four others sustained minor injuries after two vehicles collided and overturned on the N11.
According to statement issued by Traffic Policing Affairs Limpopo the incident between two sedans, happened near Ubique farm at around 06:00 this morning (Saturday, 17 October).
“It is reported that the two vehicles collided after the one side-swiped the other while overtaking. Two people died on the scene, four others sustained minor injuries.”
