Adziambei release new single ‘Mazhongodedze’

The song Mazhongodedze, is aimed at spreading awareness about Covid-19.

LIMPOPO – The Tshivenda legend music group, Adziambei Band, released their latest single, entitled Mazhongodedze last Friday.

This song is aimed at spreading awareness about Covid-19. The band was founded in 1982 by Elias Maele Sirwali in Tshaanda village, and it is known for producing music that is educational, informative and that promotes the Tshivenda culture and tradition.

In addition, it looks at challenges such as domestic violence, unemployment, drug and liquor abuse, and piracy.

Sirwali explained that the meaning of Mazhongondedze is “a scary monster that is out there with the intention to harm and to kill”.

The nationwide lockdown to help curb the spread of Covid-19 was a big reason they decided to record the song, he said.

“We believe that through music, the public will remain cautious and vigilant and continue to follow strict prevention measures to avoid the rise of infections.

“That means observing Covid-19 precautionary measures such as, washing hands with water and soap for at least 20 seconds, using alcohol-based sanitiser, wearing face masks in public, maintaining social distancing and avoiding congested places,” said Sirwali.

Mazhongondedze follows just months after their latest album, Tshipala mulilo Volume16, which was released in November 2019.

To contact the group, phone Ronald Tshikororo at 079 493 6109, Samuel Mabuda at 072 219 0041 or Elias Sirwali at 074 802 5728.
