Dalmada land invaders granted bail

The six accused have for years claimed to represent the Mojapelo clan, while the complainant in the case says stands are being sold illegally.

POLOKWANE – Six people aged between 43 and 59 who were earlier arrested for selling stands illegally at Kalkfontein portion 41 near Dalmada outside Polokwane, were granted bail of R3 500 each in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Part of the bail conditions for Francina Sebati, Nelson Tsebe, Botany Mojapelo, William Maphanga, Charles Mojapelo and Maditaboga Motimele include that they not visit the particular piece of land in question.

This is according to Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, who added that they are also prohibited from interfering with witnesses or threaten representatives from the company Blue Dot Properties, which is the complainant in the matter.

The matter of the occupancy of this land has not been resolved after more than 20 years, and is yet to be finalised by the Land Claims Court.

The six accused, referred to as the Morena Seaka View Home Owner’s Association, claim to represent the Mojapelo clan and to be in possession of an interdict that prohibits development in the area, while this is being disputed by the complainant.

The case was postponed to 13 November.
