Covid-19 cases in Limpopo nearing 3000-mark

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases stands at 2 855 with a recovery rate of 40.3%.

LIMPOPO – The Department of Health in the province says 4 Covid-19 related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 37.

Of the 4 new deaths, two were recorded in Bela Bela and one each in the Blouberg, Lepelle Nkumpi municipalities, respectively.

The department confirmed that 256 new cases of Covid-19 were also reported in the last 24 hours, with Waterberg municipality recorded the most cases, of which 74 were recorded in Thabazimbi, seven Mogalawena, four in Lephalale and one in Modimolle-Mookgophong.

The Capricorn district has the second most cases, 67 new cases were reported in Polokwane, 12 in Lepelle-Nkumpi and one in Blouberg municipality.

Ba-Phalaborwa recorded 20 new cases, 11 in Tzaneen, five in Giyani, Maruleng two and Letaba one, in the Mopani district.

Sekhukhune saw 31 new cases, with 11 recorded in Elias Motsoaledi, nine in Fetakgomo Tubatse, seven in Makhuduthamaga and four in Ephraim Mogale.

20 new cases were recorded in Vhembe district, nine in Thulamela, nine in Makhado,and one each in the Musina and Collins Chabane municipalities, respectively.

Of the 2 855 confirmed cases in the province, 1 667 are active cases while 1 151 people have recovered. 39 420 tests have been conducted;  22 335 in the public sector and 1 7085 private.
