SA records 128 more Covid-19 deaths

Nearly 7 000 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

South Africa’s Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 73 543 according to the National Department of Health. A total of 33 013 Covid-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, with 6 945 new cases reported, bringing the total number of cases to 151 209.

The department reported 128 more Covid-19 related deaths, bringing the number of deaths to 2 657.

The number of tests conducted come to 1 630 008, with 847 148 in the private sector and 782 860 in the public sector.

According to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases it is important for people who are at an increased risk for severe illness from Covid-19, and those who live with them, to protect themselves from contracting the virus. If you have to go out, wear your mask, keep a physical distance of 1,5m, avoid crowded spaces and sanitise and wash your hands frequently.
