Polokwane traffic weighbridge closed until further notice

The closure came after a second official at the centre tested positive for Covid-19.

LIMPOPO – The Department of Transport and Community Safety confirmed that a second official at the Polokwane Traffic Control Centre tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, 26 June.

This is the second case in a space of a week.

The department’s Media Liaison Officer, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala says the staff member was responsible for screening officials on a daily basis and has been in contact with all the staff at the centre.

“All staff at the centre are in isolation pending Covid-19 testing.”

The department is working closely with the Health Department to expedite the testing of the officials working at the TCC. “We are hoping to open as soon as they are all cleared to resume work,” he added.

Moremi-Taueatsoala advised truck and other heavy duty vehicle drivers to stop at other traffic control stations when using the N1 and R101 roads.
