‘Mischievous acts’ lead cause of water supply issues in city, says muni

Water tankers have been dispatched to areas that are currently affected, to provide relief.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality has blamed the recent water supply issues in the Ivy Park and Nirvana areas on ‘mischievous acts’ in the areas.

Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala says findings from the municipal water team indicated that several water supply valves in the area were closed. He adds that the team has since reopened these valves and is still checking for other valves which may have been closed.

“Currently, the team is trying to create a balance in the system to ensure that all areas receive water supply as some areas are experiencing low water pressure while others are not receiving anything.”

In the meantime the municipality dispatched water tankers to the affected areas to provide temporary relief while the municipality continues to deal with this new phenomenon, says Selala.

Water related challenges can be reported to the municipal helpline for water, at (015) 290 2376 / 2629.
