POLOKWANE – Makeup artist, Aurelia Rangata, says she aims to empower other women during lockdown through her online makeup classes, which she believes will keep them busy. Although her online classes began in 2018, Aurelia has used her time at home during the lockdown to give makeup application tips to women who have varying skin types.
“With so many products on the market, it can quite be frustrating and even intimidating to try to find the optimum product for your skin. During the online classes, you will learn how to prep your skin properly, the difference between popular products and you will be able to establish which will benefit your skin the most,” she said.
Aurelia explained that makeup varies for different face shapes and skin tones as the shape of your face will greatly impact on how you apply your makeup. “Understanding the shape of your face will enable anyone interested in makeup to accentuate their best features and minimise any features they feel require it,” she said.
While foundation can even one’s skin tone, Aurelia explains that the use of concealer on more prominent blemishes, scars and marks will ensure a completely flawless radiant complexion.
“Since I provide one on one make-up classes and workshops, the purpose of the online classes is to reach people that are outside of my geographical area and still be able to teach them my makeup techniques in the comfort of their home and time,” she said.
Aurelia also tackles the business side of makeup and the manner in which her classes are structured allows for endless replays of the courses so that you don’t miss anything,” she said.
She tells REVIEW that her online classes are very detailed. “I’ll not only teach you a makeup step, but I’ll show you how to hold the brush, the type of pressure to apply on the skin to ensure you achieve a similar outcome and finish on the skin and the types of products to use and the reasons for the use of this products,” she added.
Techniques taught during her course include bridal makeup, photography, makeup for mature skin, dramatic night time makeup, day makeup, blending and achieving flawless makeup finish as well as airbrush makeup.
Aurelia concludes that she wants to empower women who may not afford one-on-one makeup classes and reach those who do not have time due to work or personal commitments.
